Hi, I have a Kenmore elite washer from 2004. It didn't spin or pump out at first, but would agitate. In fact it would finish the cycle after a rest. Anyway, it finally wouldn't do anything but you could hear a hum from the bottom, so i tried changing the motor coupling(That had been changed 2x by Sears) and the lid switch seemed ok. When I was changing it out I noticed black grease on my hands but no puddle or leak. I put it back together, tested it empty and it seemed ok. When I put the load in the washer made a weird noise, smelled a slight burning and it stopped. It will agitate but that's it.When I took the cabinet off there's a puddle of grease under the gearcase. Did the transmission go?
