Ahh, Grasshopper, the Samurai is pleased to help you out of your dilemma. Come, sing along with me...

To unlock the Control Locked feature:

Press and hold the End Of Cycle Signal button for 3 seconds to turn this feature off.

NOTE: When the dryer is running and Control Locked light is on, the dryer can be stopped by pressing the Pause/Cancel button, but cannot be restarted until the control is unlocked.

The place the ask questions is in the repair forum at the Appliantology Group.

Our Whirlpool duet dryer has foreign objects in the drum blocks (tranlucent blocks for separating articles whole drying), how do you remove them to clean them.

O wise Samurai Appliance Repair Man, I bow at your feet in thanks for your words of wisdom! Our lovely Duet dryer, which has otherwise given no problem, had this "control locked" problem. Your words in this forum fixed it instantly. Thank you!

I had this same problem with my washer and and it worked like with the dryer. Thank you so much

You are most wise. I could not find my owner's manual so I did a quick search on "whirpool control lock" and you came out on top! How do it know? You have been added to my favorites and forwarded to all my incompetent friends. I will now have a beer in your honor.

We had the same issue with our Kenmore HE3t washer. Being the internet savvy old man that I am, I found this solution for the equivalent dryer, but the 3 second solution for the dryer did not work. My son, observant young man that he is, found the text printed on the front panel under the Drain/Spin button: "Press and hold for 3 seconds to unlock control". HA!

Our Whirlpool Duet Dryer won't start. When you select a cycle and press the start button, it beeps twice and the timer indicator blinks. That's supposed to mean that the door is not securely shut, but that doesn't seem to be the case here. What else could be wrong?

By Blogger alcouvi, at March 18, 2006 5:56 PM

YOU ARE AMAZING!!! THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!

Thanks for your "Control Lock" solution.
My Whirpool GHW9250MT on which the "Control Lock" light was on, went off when I pressed the "End Of Cycle" button for 3 secs.

Wow...thanks a lot...this saved me a service call for sure...my wife was ready to shoot someone...I couldn't find any fo this in the manual...but once I saw the button it was all there...thanks again...George

We are having the same problem as the March 18th question posted by alcouvi that stated "Our Whirlpool Duet Dryer won't start. When you select a cycle and press the start button, it beeps twice and the timer indicator blinks. That's supposed to mean that the door is not securely shut, but that doesn't seem to be the case here. What else could be wrong?"

Was a solution ever posted for this? Please help!!!

Our Whirlpool duet dryer won't start. When you select a cycle and press the start button, it beeps and a line appears for the timer indicator. The door is shut. What else could be the problem?

By Blogger Shelly, at December 27, 2007 11:55 PM

My son's Duet dryer stops every few minutes and displays an F-02 message. What does that mean and how does he resolve the problem?

By Blogger Carla, at February 20, 2008 6:42 PM

Same problem as two other posters above - alcouvi and 'jon and erika':

"Our Whirlpool Duet Dryer won't start. When you select a cycle and press the start button, it beeps twice and the timer indicator blinks. That's supposed to mean that the door is not securely shut, but that doesn't seem to be the case here. What else could be wrong?"

If anyone has a solution, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
