I am one of those unlucky idiots who purchased the Maytag Neptune Super Stack model MLE2000AYW. My machine died yesterday and I had the “lonely” Maytag repairman over to take a look. The $%#%^*&^ computer board is fried. The repair quote is $900. Since the machine broke down after the 8/9/2004 deadline on the class action suit, I am at Maytag’s mercy to either attempt to repair it or give me a Washing Machine Purchase Certificate. But I don’t want to purchase another #%$$# Maytag.I need a stacking unit due to space constrictions. I’m considering purchasing a Frigidaire Gallery Series GLEH1642DS. But before I do, I wanted your venerable opinion, since it is VERY OBVIOUS that you know what you’re doing.

Anyway, I think you should investigate doing this repair yourself. First, confirm the diagnosis– the guy could be blowing huge, billowing clouds of thick, greazy smoke up your keester. Then, buy the part ratcheer and you’ll save yer bad self a whole buttload of moola. Booyah!

I’m another idiot who purchased a stacked neptune. My control board has been replaced but I still have the same issues. The machine fills with water but does not tumble. I’m being told by the repair guy that this is caused by a faulty timer. By the time I’m done paying the repair guy I could’ve bought a new set.
I don’t have anything that needs repairing. I just love reading your words of wisdoms. You are so wise and so damn funny.JMO.

Humble Eric will answer the the question, SHOULD I BUY FRIGGIGDAIRE and I say never !!to If you want a one piece laundry system, Buy the WHIRLPOOL BUILT UNIT, very good track record, nice to install, nice to service ( not that often) and very good value for the money. Dryer has 4 rollers and not prone to lint fires like the FRIGGS. Washer portion will last as long as the dryer does, not like the FRIGGS and is a gem to servive. Also sold as Kenmore by Sears so ask Sears sales staff who made the Kenmore washer / dryer unit when you check them out. Only 30 years experience here so maybe some old guy has some sage advice for you. Cheers ERIC

I’m new to this and stumbled onto your site searching for info on the Maytag Neptune Stacked units, LSE7806ACE & MLE2000AYW. I purchased a Frigidaire Stack Laundry Center from Sears about a month ago and am very disappointed with the dryer vent. It vents through the door before going into the lint filter. After doing a load of towels when you open the door, dust flys everywhere. The floor, the air and even onto the clean clothes. I have to clean the door and filter before I can remove my clothes. I’m planning on returning it IF I can find a stacking unit that doesn’t vent through the door. Any suggestions??
To the guy who has the Maytag Neptune that fills with water, but won’t tumble. The machine control board needs to be replaced. That is a kit that has the motor and board all in the same box. Both need to be replaced. Your wonderful machine will work then.
I didn’t mean the machine control board, I meant to say the motor control board. Its been long enough, he probably know that by now.
