Kitchenaid dishwasher touchpanel won’t respond; control board already replaced. What’s the problem?

Your Name: jeff

Type of Appliance: Dishwasher

Brand: kitchenaid

Model Number: kudio1il

Your Precious Words:

I have a kitchenaid dishwasher. Started acting up. Only some of the buttons would work… and ‘start’ would not start the unit. I have a video above of the full problem, as well as what happens when I do the ‘reset’ procedure I read about online.

I tried replacing the circuit board (twice!). it will work ONE TIME after replacing, then go back to the same problem. If I unplug for >12 hours, it also seems to work again for ONE TIME… but that is actually not 100% reliable.

I was thinking my next step is to replace the touch pad…. but was hoping you might be able to help me out. before I waist more money.

Hi Jeff,

I’m embedding the video you made in this post for illustrative purposes:

This is a classic bad touchpanel. The model number you gave is incomplete so I went with model number KUDI01DLBL1 for discussion purposes.

The touchpad that you need to replace. ==> http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Touchpad/8531249/961943?modelNumber=KUDI01DLBL1?RCAID=24038

If you click on that link and enter the complete model number off of your tag on the dishwasher, you will be sure to find the exact touchpad that you need for your dishwasher. Model number tag location help here ==> http://www.repairclinic.com/General/Help-Me-Find-My-Model-Number

In any event, the touchpad is the part that’s bad and needs to be replaced.

How to clean a refrigerator condenser and other simple routine maintenance that anyone can (and should) do

Your Name: Shelly

Type of Appliance: Refrigerator

Brand: whirlpool

Model Number: edsgtgxnq00

Your Precious Words:
Outside of refrig sides and middle strip hot have cleaned front of coils but back coils dirty can I take back off to clean and will I beable to see the condenser fan?

Hi Shelly,

You’re definitely on the right track! That condenser is exactly what needs to be cleaned. Ahh, Grasshoppah, you have learned well; you have snatched the pebble from my hand!

The only thing you lack now is the confidence to carry on with your convictions and your good instincts. The short answer to your question is, “Yes, remove the back to clean the back of the condenser. Also, use a condenser brush from the front for best cleaning results.”

Watch the video below and it will guide you further in this simple maintenance task and others as well.

Why does a refrigerator sometimes freeze milk and water in the fresh food compartment?

Your Name: Kerrie

Type of Appliance: Refrigerator

Brand: don’t remember 🙂

Model Number:

Your Precious Words:
I’ve notice that on the top shelf of my somewhat older model fridge, the water and milk every now and then freeze a bit. It will happen regularly for a week, then not at all for a few weeks, then start up again. I’m not changing any of the settings on the fridge or freezer. Your thoughts, Samurai?

Why is a Bosch dishwasher constantly running in drain mode?

Your Name: Elizabeth

Type of Appliance: Dishwasher

Brand: bosch

Model Number: shu9925uc

Your Precious Words:
My dishwasher will not turn off. I think it is in a constant drain mode though I am not sure. I tried your test for another, similar model by holding down the power’scrub and delicate buttons simultaneously, turning on and then releasing buttons. Those lights flashed and when those buttons were then pushed, the regular wash light went on.

Bosch washer disassembly help and service manual

Your Name: John

Type of Appliance: Washer

Brand: Bosch

Model Number: WFMC1001UC/06

Your Precious Words:
Sensei,
Arigatou gozaimasu. I been fixing this stuff for a lot of years. Not a front loader however. Which is the Bosch more like in the disassembly videos?

John White

Hi John,

It’s probably not very helpful or useful to use a disassembly video for another washer brand and try to apply it to your Bosch washer. It’s the little details in disassembly that can git ya.

We don’t have a disassembly video for the Bosch washer yet. But the service manual is excellent and that we do have in the Downloads section of the Appliantology Academy ==> http://appliantology.org/files/file/72-bosch-wfmc-front-load-washer-training-manual-1st-edition/

You’ll need to be an Apprentice in the Academy to download the manual; come snatch this pebble from my hand ==> http://apprentice.appliantology.org/

How to replace the clutch in a Whirlpool direct-drive top-loading washer

Also sold with the Kenmore label on them. This is good ol’ washer that they’re not making anymore. But they are still making parts for it. If you have one, hang on to it as long as you can!

Here’s the part link to the clutch assembly ==> http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Clutch-Assembly/285785/2670

How to Disassemble the Whirlpool / Kenmore Dryer with the Lint Filter at the Door

This dryer is a step down from the original design that had the lint filter in the top panel– not nearly as rugged or durable as it’s older brother. But still lots of these dryers out there. Here’s how to take ’em apart when you inevitably have to work on them:
